The Car History of Alex Beloff III

THIS IS MY FIRST NEW CADILLAC  –  AN IMAGE OF SUCCESS.  A NEW CADILLAC AT LEAST BACK THEN, MAKES A STATEMENT OF ITS OWNER HAVING ARRIVED.

MY COUSIN JOHN SADEK, ONE OF THE CHIEF STYLISTS AT GM AND LATER FORD MOTOR COMPANY, ACQUIRED THIS COUPE FOR ME THAT CADILLAC ADVANCED ENGINEERING HAD BEEN TESTING THE A/C TO CALIFORNIA AND BACK.  I BOUGHT IT AS A NEW UNTITLED (OPEN MSO MANUFACTURE’S CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN) MEANING I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER.

WITH REGARDS TO THE 1966 CADILLAC, IT WAS THE FINEST PIECE OF ENGINEERING ON THE ROAD.  EFFORTLESS TO DRIVE, ABSOLUTE COMFORT, BRUTALLY QUICK YET AT CRUISING SPEED, IT WAS A QUIET AS A VACUUM.  FIT AND FINISH QUALITY OF MATERIALS WAS FIRST RATE.  I HAD NO TROUBLE SELLING A NEW 1966 CADILLAC WITH AN OPEN MSO IN THE INDIANAPOLIS MARKET WHERE TUTWEILER CADILLAC HAD ESTABLISHED A STRONG RESPECTABLE RETAIL MARKET FOR YEARS.

I PAID UNENCUMBERED CASH FOR MY FIRST NEW CADILLAC AT 25 YEARS OLD.  NOT BAD FOR A KID ABANDONED AT AGE 3 BY MY MOTHER AND RAISED BY MY RUSSIAN IMMIGRANT GRANDPARENTS HERE LEGALLY UNTIL AGE 11.  MY DAD RETURNED FROM THE ARMY AIR CORP IN WWII AND LATER MARRIED MY STEPMOTHER, LAURA  –  SHE WAS THE ONLY LOVING MOTHER I EVER KNEW.  DAD WAS THE FINEST GENTLEMAN, A RESPONSIBLE PROVIDER AND HE LOVED CARS AND AVIATION.

EVERY PIECE OF GLASS IN THIS CADILLAC HAS LOF SAFETY PLATE ETCHED ON THEM.  ALL THE GLASS CAME FROM THE LIBBY OWENS FORD GLASS FACTORY IN ROSSFORD, OHIO.  THE LARGEST IN THE WORLD AT THE TIME EXCLUSIVELY MAKING GLASS FOR ALL GM CARS.  WE WERE 60 MILES FROM DETROIT.  MY DAD WAS THE SENIOR GLASS MAKER FOR OVER 50 YEARS AT LOF.  MY GRANDFATHER JOHN HULAY WAS THERE FOR 37 YEARS.

BELOW IS MOM LAURA WITH NEW 1957 FORD WAGON AND WITH ALEX IN FALL OF 2014.
