The Car History of Alex Beloff III

UPON ARRIVAL AT THE PRIVATELY-OWNED TRAILER PARK NEAR BUNKER AFB IN PERU INDIANA, A NEIGHBOR FROM THE BASE SAW MY NEW 1965 IMPALA SS AND IMMEDIATELY WANTED TO BUY IT WITH THE 1959 CHEVY WAGON AS A TRADE.  HE WAS WELL AWARE OF THE RARITY OF THE NEW BODY STYLE OF THE NEW IMPALA SS.  NONE OF THE LOCAL DEALERS HAD ONE ESPECIALLY WITH THE IMPRESSIVE COLOR SELECTIONS AND MILD CUSTOM TREATMENTS.  HE ALSO UNDERSTOOD THAT MY ACQUISITION COST BEING IN THE BUSINESS WAS ATTRACTIVE AND HAD HOPES OF MAKING A TRADE AND WE MADE A DEAL.

BOTH CARS WERE TAKEN TO THE WABASH COUNTY MOTOR SALES TO HANDLE THE PAPERWORK – CALLED AN “IN AND OUT” AT NO CHARGE TO THE MILITARY AS A COURTESY.  I WAS HIRED HERE AS A PART-TIME SALESMAN WITH GLOWING CREDENTIALS FROM BROWN MOTORS FORT WALTON BEACH FLORIDA.  THE CHEVROLET PERFORMED PERFECTLY ONLY NEEDING A LOVING DETAIL.  I GOT IT BACK TO THE  TRAILER PARK.  THE ENGINE WASN’T EVEN COLD WHEN I HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE SAY THEY WANTED TO BUY IT TO TAKE TO THE BASE.  THE CAR WAS SOLD

I HAD ORDERED FOR MYSELF PERSONALLY IN FLORIDA A NEW 1966 SPORT FURY METALLIC GOLD, WHITE VINYL TOP, GOLD BUCKET SEATS, FACTORY AIR WITH A 426 4 BBL AND DUAL EXHAUSTS TO BE DELIVERED TO WABASH.  UPON ARRIVAL, THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STRUCK THE FANCY OF A FRIEND OF MINE FROM THE BASE WHO WAS TRADING IN A 1959 CHEVY WELL USED WAGON.  THE COMPANY WAS AT THE END OF ITS VALUE SCALE FOR HIS TRADE AND THEY WANTED TO KNOW IF I WOULD BUY IT MAKING UP THE DIFFERENCE TO HELP HIM GET IN THE NEW SPORT FURY AND AFFORDING ME TO MAKE A FEW BUCKS ON THE TRADE AND I AGREED.
