The Car History of Alex Beloff III

ONE OF MY CADILLAC OWNERS WHO WAS FROM ROSSMOOR CALIFORNIA, A GORGEOUS PRIVATE COMMUNITY PRIMARILY OF RETIRED JEWISH PEOPLE HAD PURCHASED MANY CADILLACS FROM ME.  HE BOUGHT ONLY YELLOW CADILLACS WITH YELLOW LEATHER.  HE HAD A 1982 SEDAN DEVILLE THAT HAD BEEN COMPLETELY REBUILT FRONT TO BACK.  THE CAR SPENT A LOT OF TIME OUTSIDE AND WAS #54 COLONIAL YELLOW.  BY NOW THE HT 4100 V-8 HAD BECOME LEGENDARY AS A BOAT ANCHOR.  NO ONE WANTED A USED CADILLAC WITH THE HT 4100 EVEN REBUILT.

FROM 1982 – 1986 THE 239 WAS SORRY UNDER POWERED CADILLAC V-8.  IT ATE CAM SHAFTS, DRANK OIL AND THREW RODS FOR FOUR YEARS!  WHERE WERE THE CELEBRATED CADILLAC ENGINEERS?  IT’S A WONDER WE HAVE ANY CADILLAC OWNERS LEFT.  REMEMBER THE FAMOUS 1955 CHEVY V-8 BY LEGENDARY ED COLE?  IT WAS 285 (283) CU. IN. – OUR CAR IS 239?

IT WAS OFFERED TO ME MOST ATTRACTIVELY.  I BOUGHT IT.  WE HAD TO WET SAND AND BUFF THE PAINT TO GET THE BEAUTIFUL LACQUER TO SHINE.  RECOVERING FROM BYPASS SURGERY

IN BENICIA CALIFORNIA, I HAD TIME TO GO OVER EVERY INCH WITH LACQUER THINNER ON THAT YELLOW LEATHER THAT WAS BADLY SOILED FROM YEARS OF USE.  I USED BRAND NEW WHITE WASH RAGS TURNING FREQUENTLY TO APPLY LACQUER THINNER.  AFTER MANY APPLICATIONS, THAT GORGEOUS CREAMY YELLOW LEATHER LOOKED NEW AND SMELLED NEW.

IT WAS NOW ONE IMPRESSIVE DEVILLE.  A FOR SALE SIGN IN THE WINDOW ATTRACTED NUMEROUS BUYERS.  A COUPLE SAW IT, LOVED IT.  NEGOTIATIONS WERE GOING ON.  THEY PAID CASH AND GAVE ME A RIDE HOME.  I CAME OUT VERY WELL.
