The Car History of Alex Beloff III

1972 CADILLAC COUPE DEVILLE LIGHT METALLIC GREEN WHITE TOP GREEN CLOTH INTERIOR WITH FACTORY AIR WAS AN ORIGINAL TEXAS CAR NEW THAT WAS A TIME CAPSULE.  BOB CHAMBERS, OUR USED CAR MANAGER AT LONE STAR CADILLAC, WOULD ALWAYS ALERT ME WHEN WE HAD A CAR THAT HE KNEW I WOULD LIKE AND PERHAPS NEEDED A FEW EXTRA DOLLARS IN THE UNIT TO HELP MAKE THE DEAL.  I WAS AGREEABLE AND BOUGHT THE CAR.

THE LACQUER PAINT WAS LIKE GLASS.  THE INTERIOR APPEARED AS IF NO ONE EVER SAT IN IT.  THE AIR BLEW COLD.  GREG PAUL, MY VERY CLOSE FRIEND AND RESIDENT VOGUE TYRE MANAGER AT LONE STAR CADILLAC, FOUND ME AN EXCELLENT SET OF REAL CHROME 50 SPOKE WIRE WHEELS MOUNTED ON FOUR NEW CORRECT WHITE WALL RADIAL TIRES REMINISCENT OF THE 75-76 NEW CADILLACS.

I WAS THE TOP VOGUE TYRE SALESMAN FOR LONE STAR CADILLAC AND THE DALLAS ZONE THREE STRAIGHT YEARS.  GREG AND I PUT A LOT OF TIRES AND AFTERMARKET ON THE ROAD.  HE’S A GOOD TEACHER AND I LEARNED A LOT FROM GREG.  I AM PROUD TO SAY WE ARE STILL IN TOUCH IN 2018!

PROBLEM: MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR.  IT SUDDENLY STOPPED AS THOUGH IT HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL.  I CONTACTED FRED, OUR TOP SALES PRODUCER AT LONE STAR FOR MANY YEARS AND A FORMER CERTIFIED CADILLAC TECHNICIAN DESCRIBING THE SYMPTOMS, FRED SAID, SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A COLLAPSED MUFFLER.  HE WAS RIGHT.  IT WAS THE ORIGINAL MUFFLER.  REMEMBER EDDIE MURPHY IN BEVERLY HILLS COP, THE BANANA IN THE TAIL PIPE—SAME THING HERE.

WELL BY LATE 1987, THE ECONOMY IN TEXAS HAD ALREADY TANKED BADLY.  I WAS OFFERED A GREAT ASSIGNMENT ON THE SALES STAFF OF CASHMAN CADILLAC IN LAS VEGAS.  WHILE THERE I MET THE HEAD MAITRE D’AT THE DESERT INN.  GREAT GUY.  MY WIFE WAS WORKING IN THE OFFICE FOR THE HOWARD HUGHES COMPANY THAT OWNED THE DESERT INN.  THE MAÎTRE D D BOUGHT THE 1972 COUPE DEVILLE FOR HIS MOTHER AS A PRESENT.

NOTICE HAVING THE CAR SHIPPED FROM DALLAS TO VEGAS ON A TRAILER.
