The Car History of Alex Beloff III

EDDIE EDMONDS CAME TO ME WITH A STORY EVERY CAR PERSON WOULD LOVE TO HEAR.  HE SAID, ALEX I KNOW HOW SPECIAL CARS ARE TO YOU.  MY MOM HAS A 1959 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE COUPE IN THAT GORGEOUS WHITE, CORAL AND MAHOGANY INTERIOR WITH FACTORY AIR. SHE PURCHASED IT NEW.  SHE IS A WIDOW AND HAS TREASURED THIS CAR.  NO ONE HAS EVER SMOKED IN THIS CAR AND IT IS IN JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA.  NOT LONG AGO, MOM ASKED ME TO START THE CAR AND TAKE IT FOR A DRIVE.

IT HAD BEEN SITTING IN AN ENCLOSED CARPORT THAT BLOCKED OUT THE DAMAGING SUN FOR SO LONG THAT WHEN I MOVED IT, THERE WERE FOUR BLACK TIRE MARKS ON THE CARPORT PAVEMENT.  THE AIR BLOWS COLD AND IT IS TIME FOR MOM TO SELL THE CAR.  SHE WANTS SOMEONE TO HAVE IT THAT WOULD APPRECIATE ALL OF HER EFFORTS TO KEEP IT NICE.

THE GORGEOUS STAR FLECK CORAL CARPETS HAD NEVER BEEN STEPPED ON EXCEPT THE DRIVER’S SIDE WHICH WAS PROTECTED. YOU WILL  NOTICE FACTORY TACHOMETER REVEALING THE MOST AMAZING BEAUTIFUL CARPET EVER MADE AND SADLY DISCONTINUED IN 1960 FOR ECONOMY REASONS.

REMEMBER THIS WAS 1959 MOTOR TRENDS CAR OF THE YEAR.  OF COURSE, I BOUGHT THE CAR AND PAID HER ASKING PRICE.  THIS BONNEVILLE COUPE INTERIOR ALONE LOOKED LIKE NO ONE EVER OPENED THE DOOR OR SAT IN THE CAR.  THE PADDED DASH, THE SEATS, THE DOOR PANELS WERE ABSOLUTE PRISTINE PERFECT.  THE SILL PLATES THAT HOLD THE CARPETS DOWN DID NOT HAVE ONE SCRATCH OR ABRASION.  IT EVEN SMELLED NEW.

I OWNED THE CAR UNTIL IT WAS TIME FOR ME TO FULFILL A NEW ASSIGNMENT SENDING ME TO A B-58 SAC NUCLEAR WING IN PERU INDIANA.  ONE DAY I STARTED THE CAR, PUSHED THE AC BUTTON ON THE DASH AND ELECTRIC SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE SWITCHES.  I SHUT IT OFF KNOWING I WOULD NOT HAVE TIME TO GO THROUGH IT PROPERLY.

I SOLD THE CAR TO OWNER SHERMAN JENKINS OF SELECT MOTORS CARS, FORT WALTON BEACH WHO PAID AN OBSCENE AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR THIS CAR.  HE THOUGHT THE CAR HAD BEEN IN A FLOOD AND THE WHOLE INTERIOR HAD BEEN REPLACED.   A CLOSE EXAMINATION UNDER THE CARPETS AND SEATS REVEALED ALL THE ORIGINAL FACTORY STICKERS, CHALK MARKS AND OFFICIAL NOMENCLATURE.  IT WAS IN FACT GENUINE AND ORIGINAL.

NOTE:  THE ORANGE FLORIDA PLATE AUTHENTICITY.   AS A BONUS TO ENCOURAGE ME TO TAKE HIS MONEY, HE ALSO THREW IN A 1959 MERCURY FOUR DOOR FOR ME TO HAVE AS A GIFT.
