The Car History of Alex Beloff III

CALL ME CRAZY.  I WAS ALERTED TO A CADILLAC SHAMEFULLY CAST AWAY IN A RURAL SETTING ON A PRIVATE FARM WITH FOUR OR FIVE OTHER CARS THAT YOU COULD BARELY SEE BECAUSE OF THE WEEDS.  THE FAMILY WAS SELLING EVERYTHING.  HE SAID, IT DOESN’T RUN AND IT HAS BEEN BADLY WRECKED AND WE DIDN’T HAVE THE TIME OR MONEY TO RESTORE IT.  DO YOU WANT THE OLD CADILLAC?  WE DON’T KNOW WHAT YEAR IT IS BUT IT HAS TO GO.

WELL A CLOSER EXAMINATION REVEALED A 1956 CADILLAC ELDORADO SEVILLE COUPE.  SOMEONE HAD ALREADY REMOVED THE TWO 4 BBL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION.  THE INTERIOR WAS SURPRISINGLY NICE IN MY EYES LOOKING PAST YEARS OF CRUD AND NEGLECT.  THIS IS THE SECOND AND VERY LAST YEAR FOR THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN CHROME PLATED INCLUDING ALL THE SPACERS.  IT HAD THE HEAVY METAL FLOOR MATS IN BLACK RUBBER WITH BRIGHT TRIM WORK.

I DRAGGED THIS DOG HOME, PUT IT IN MY DRIVEWAY AND STARTED MAKING SOME CALLS.    I WAS CONVINCED THAT THE REST OF THE BODY PANELS WOULD BE OF GREAT VALUE.  I GOT A CALL FROM A GENTLEMAN FROM TEXAS AS I REMEMBER WHO BOUGHT THE CAR OVER THE PHONE AND SAID, I AM SENDING YOU A CHECK.  I WILL BE THERE IN ABOUT A WEEK OR SO TO PICK IT UP.  YOU SEE THE CHROME FACTORY SABER SPOKE WHEELS WERE BEAUTIFUL.  THEY WERE COVERED WITH A LAYER OF GREASE, TAR, AND ROAD FILM.  THE WHEELS WERE WORTH FOUR TIMES WHAT I PAID FOR THE WHOLE CAR.  WHEN THE BUYER ARRIVED, HE WAS EXTREMELY PLEASED SAYING, YOU ARE ONE OF THE VERY FEW PEOPLE WHO DESCRIBE A VEHICLE ACCURATELY.  NO DISAPPOINTMENTS.

BELOW ARE PHOTOS OF A STUNNING 1956 CADILLAC ELDORADO SEVILLE COUPE THAT WAS AT THE CADILLAC LASALLE GRAND NATIONAL IN KANSAS CITY  2014 SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT #94 LOOKED LIKE ORIGINALLY.
