The Car History of Alex Beloff III

THIS 1957 COUPE DEVILLE IN FACTORY MOUNTAIN LAUREL PINK WITH WHITE TOP MADE THE PINK APPEAR TO BE MUCH SOFTER.  IT HAD A GORGEOUS PINK LEATHER AND BLACK BROCADE CLOTH INTERIOR AND EXCELLENT CHROME FUNCTIONAL BUMPER EXHAUSTS.  I INSTALLED A USED SET OF HIGHLY DESIRABLE CADILLAC CHROME SABER SPOKE WHEELS WITH CORRECT WHITE WALLS THAT I HAD IN MY STORAGE FACILITY.  THE DRIVER’S DOOR POWER WINDOW WAS INOPERATIVE AND THE MOTOR WAS SHOT.  THIS IS 1976-1977 AND WE DIDN’T HAVE ROCK AUTO OR OTHER SOURCES FOR REPRODUCTION TRIM AND POWER COMPONENTS.

I COVERED THE OPEN WINDOW CAREFULLY WITH PLASTIC.  AT THIS TIME I WAS BEING COURTED BY MR. ED SCHMIDT, ED SCHMIDT PONTIAC, PERRYSBURG, OHIO TO BE HIS ASSISTANT NEW CAR SALES MANAGER IN THEIR BRAND NEW FACILITY.  YOU MAY RECALL THAT IT WAS ED SCHMIDT PERSONALLY WHO SOLD ME MY FIRST NEW CAR IN 1964 A PONTIAC GRAND PRIX WITH 8 LUG AND FACTORY A/C.

HE FOLLOWED MY EFFORTS AS A DEALER AND USED CAR MANAGER AND WAS MOST ANXIOUS TO HAVE ME ON HIS STAFF TO INFLUENCE POTENTIAL BUYERS FROM ROSSFORD THAT WAS A VERY WEALTHY COMMUNITY.  THIS FORCED THE SALE OF MANY OF MY CARS INCLUDING THE MOUNTAIN LAUREL COUPE DEVILLE.  I CALLED SOME LOCAL FOLKS WHO HAD SHOWN AN INTEREST AND THE CADILLAC WAS SOLD.

NOTICE MY BRAND NEW 1978 CADILLAC COUPE DEVILLE DEMONSTRATOR VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THE PINK 1957.
