THIS IS ANOTHER OF MY SPECIAL FIRE MIST PAINT WITH THE WHITE LEATHER AND THE HARMONIZING CARPETS. THIS 1973 COUPE DEVILLE SOLD VERY QUICKLY SO I NEEDED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER PERSONAL CAR.
I PURCHASE MY OWN NEW VEHICLES EVEN THOUGH AS THE UNENCUMBERED OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS CERTAINLY AUTHORIZED TO DRIVE ANYTHING I WANTED. BY PURCHASING THE CAR PERSONALLY, IT ESTABLISHED TWO CONDITIONS THAT I PARTICULARLY FAVOR.
FIRST, I WAS EXTREMELY TOUCHY ABOUT MY PERSONAL CARS. IF YOU GOT A FOOT PRINT ON THE CARPETS OR WHITE CADILLAC FLOOR MATS, YOU HAD TO TIE ME UP WITH A ROPE. I COULD KEEP IT LOCKED AND THERE WERE CERTAINLY ALTERNATIVE SIMILAR VEHICLES AVAILABLE FOR DEMONSTRATOR.
IT IS HARD FOR YOU READERS TO REMEMBER THIS IS STILL NORTHERN INDIANA WITH SNOW UP TO THE DOOR HANDLES, RUSTED CARS, AND DEAD BATTERIES. (KNOW YOU NOTICE THE SNOW IN THE TOP PHOTOS.) IT WAS NOT UNUSUAL TO SEE A CUT OFF BROOM STICK HANDLE HOLDING UP THE HOOD WITH 80 POUNDS OF FROZEN ICE ON IT SO YOU COULD GIVE A JUMP START TO YOUR CAR. SOMETIMES YOU TURN THE IGNITION KEY AND YOU HEAR “CLICK, CLICK, CLICK”. CAR WON’T START!
MY STYLE AND FASHION CONSCIENCE OWNERS WHO HAD TO HAVE THE ONE OF A KIND COUPE DEVILLE. THE CAR WAS DISPLAYED THE OUR FIRST ANNUAL BELOFF CADILLAC GOLF TOURNAMENT. ONE OF THE GOLF PROS BROUGHT IT AND I NEEDED A RIDE HOME. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, MY GENERAL SALES MANAGER PAUL ENDED UP OWNING THIS VERY CAR WHEN IT WAS TRADED IN THE NEXT YEAR.
